LAWMAKER QUESTIONS DEPED ON FLOODING ISSUES IN SCHOOLS
SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian has questioned the officials of the Department of Education regarding the flooding concerns at Pasay City National High School.
“Are there any intervention to address the flooding issue at this school? If you think about it, roads and the drainages never expanded for probably the last 50 years,” Gatchalian said.
“And due to the density and high population growth rate, most schools in Metro Manila are prone to flooding,” he added.
The senator was informed that the flooding issue at Pasay City National High School was already addressed through DepEd’s coordination with the local government unit last year.
The senator stressed that DepEd officials should always monitor concerns in every school to immediately implement solutions.
The Committee on Basic Education has conducted a public hearing on the renaming, separation, and establishment of various public schools across the country.
