PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Budget and Management to increase the Service Recognition Incentive for public school teachers.

The planned adjustment will raise the SRI for around 1,011,800 Department of Education personnel from ₱18,000 to ₱20,000. The SRI is an annual financial reward given to government employees in recognition of their dedication and commitment to providing quality public service.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara welcomed the directive, emphasizing that the initiative reflects the administration’s shared commitment to empowering teachers and acknowledging their crucial role in shaping the country’s future.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, further details on the implementation timeline will be released once the DBM and DepEd complete the funding mechanisms.
