THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology continues to install free Wi-Fi for all sites in schools and public areas to help students with their online classes and school-related activities.

DICT Asec. Aboy Paraiso said that the project is being coordinated with the Department of Education to address the needs of the students.

“Doon sa mga schools, meron naman tayong wifi — nagbibigay rin po tayo ng mga free wifi sa public areas at saka mga schools po natin, para naman po in cooperation with DepEd, para naman po ‘yung mga estudyante natin makapag conduct ng online classes po,” Paraiso said.

The said program provides free public internet access in more public areas in the country.

In 2023, the DICT has activated over 3,900 new free wifi sites nationwide.

“The activation of these new Free Wi-Fi sites is a testament to the DICT’s dedication to improving Filipino lives by providing them with equitable access to online resources, education, and opportunities,” DICT earlier said on its website.
