THE University of the Philippines Los Baños partnered with the Provincial Government of Northern Samar to enhance human settlements planning in the province.

Through the UPLB’s Department of Community and Environmental Resource Planning, a memorandum of agreement was recently signed by Chancellor Jose V. Camacho Jr., College of Human Ecology Dean Jennifer Marie Amparo, and Governor Edwin Marino Ongchuan.

DCERP faculty members witnessed the MOA signing.

“This agreement highlights UPLB’s commitment to applying its academic and research expertise to real-world community needs, emphasizing the role of educational institutions in societal development,” UPLB said.

According to UPLB, the initiative is part of the public service effort by UPLB, focusing on providing technical assistance for sustainable human settlements planning in Northern Samar.

The program is designed “to tackle housing, land use, and environmental sustainability challenges, with a focus on disaster resilience and community development.”
