ROTC PROGRAM CRUCIAL IN NATION-BUILDING — PSU PRESIDENT
THE RESERVE Officers’ Training Corps Program has played a vital role in nation-building, Pangasinan State University President Dr. Elbert Galas said.
“ROTC is one of the best leadership training courses at the University that essentially teaches practical life skills,” he said during the graduation ceremony on July 15.
“It is able to develop discipline, build character, and hone potentials of every cadet,” he told the 1,500 graduates.
“These include modesty and brilliance where unselfish service to others becomes paramount in becoming responsible citizens of the country,” Galas added.
ROTC cadets of Pangasinan State University – Alaminos, Bayambang, Binmaley, Lingayen, Infanta and San Carlos campuses together with the Philippine College of Science and Technology under the 104th Community Defense Center of San Isidro Norte, Binmaley, Pangasinan were among those who marched during the graduation rites.
BGEN. Jose Randolf M. Sino Cruz, the Assistant Division Commander of the 1st Infantry Divison who is also an alumnus of PSU, was the guest of honor and speaker.
“Never lose sight of your purpose. The sacrifices you make today will pave the way for a better tomorrow. The strength of our nation lies in the heart and mind of courageous citizens of this country,” Sino Cruz said.
