3 MORE UPLB PROGRAMS GET ASEAN AUN-QA ACCREDITATION
THREE more undergraduate programs of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños were accredited by the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations University Network-Quality Assurance.
The three programs are BS Agricultural Biotechnology, BS Food Science and Technology and BS Economics of the College of Economics and Management.
The accreditation placed the programs at par with the standards set by other universities in the ASEAN region.
“The AUN-QA Team was composed of Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chin of Vietnam National University (VNU) and Dr. Karanrat Soonthornpun of Prince of Songkia University, Thailand for BS ABT; Dr. Le Quang Minh of VNU and Dr. Thanongsack Duangdala of the National University of Laos for BS FST; and Fr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and Dr. Prastawa Budi of Universitas Hasanuddin, Indonesia for BS Econ,” UPLB said.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chin and Dr. Le Quang Minh served as the lead assessors, and Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsang was the chief assessor.
The university now has 10 programs accredited by the AUN-QA.
The first seven programs are BS Agriculture, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BS Chemical Engineering, BS Development Communication, BS Biology, BS Forestry, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
“BS Nutrition will be the next degree program to undergo the certification process for the first time, while BS Biology and BS Forestry will undergo the renewal process for their AUN-QA certification,” the school said.
The BSABE and BSChE degree programs will undergo the certification process of the Washington Accord.
