SCHOOL IN BALANGA RECOGNIZED FOR FEEDING PROGRAM
THE G. L. David Memorial Integrated School in Balanga, Bataan was included in the list of the World’s Best Schools of T4 Education for providing free nutritious meals to students and giving food literacy.
The school was recognized for its initiatives to mobilize community members to ensure the basic needs of the students.
The malnutrition of students was one of the problems identified by the school because of the economic difficulties their families are going through.
The school launched Project KAIN to provide free and nutritious food to students.
Through the project, the school gathered vegetables, fruits and other products from the government, NGOs and parents who sometimes helped cook meals for the feeding program.
The school also launched Project LETRA, a literacy program, SIGA Program, Gulayan at School, Come and Enroll Project, Project END, Project BEPS and activities related to Brigada Eskwela and Brigada Pagbasa.
Ana Maria Garcia, the principal of GLDMIS, thanked the school’s partners and stakeholders for helping them with the projects.
“The school is very grateful to all workforce, partners, and stakeholders of G.L. David Memorial Integrated School that offered their support,” she said.
“To all the parents, government officials, NGOs, and private individuals, thank you for joining us in this endeavor. We implore everyone to continue to extend their help to the school. We will ensure that quality education will still be delivered to our learners,” Garcia added.
