SAMAR STATE UNIVERSITY DISTRIBUTES LEARNING MATERIALS TO STUDENTS
THE SAMAR State University has started to hand out learning materials to students who opted for ‘offline mode’ of learning .
Led by Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, vice president of Academic Affairs, SSU distributed printed learning materials to students in the municipalities of Jiabong, Motiong, Paranas and Hinabangan on September 9.
Also present during the turnover were Engr. Meddy Mangaring (Dean, College of Engineering), Dr. Elmer A. Irene (Director, International Affairs), Dr. Jonah Gay V. Pedraza (External Campus Coordinator), and the faculty assigned on the Academic Links/Kiosks and representatives of the local government unit.
The learning materials, prepared by the faculty members, would enhance the independent remote learning of those who have no internet connectivity or strong radio signals at home.
The SSU will be using a flexible learning approach for the school year 2020-2021. This includes the use of printed learning materials, an online platform called ‘Moodle-based LMS,’ and on-air learning lessons aired on the university’s radio IM.
“In our case, since we are the Chair of the Technology Infrastructure and Support Committee, we have undertaken the lead along with the Technology Infrastructure and Support. After the diagnostics and profiling of students, faculty, and ICT resources, as well as internet connectivity, our preparation was categorized mainly into two: Full Offline Preparation and Online or Blended Preparation,” SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso said.
The delivery of the learning materials will ensure that no student will be left behind.
“Let us push to make it the better normal. Let us continue to build up resiliency in the education system because this is now the reality,” Cardoso said.
