LACSONIANS GRANTED ‘STUDY NOW, PAY LATER’ SCHOLARSHIP
FIFTEEN students of the John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation, Inc. in Bacolod were granted maritime scholarship under the “Study Now, Pay Later” program.
The scholarship is a tripartite endeavor of the provincial government of Negros Occidental, maritime schools and manning companies. It aims to provide educational benefits to poor but deserving Negrense students who dream of becoming seafarers.
Under the agreement, the provincial government shall pay for the tuition and school fees of the scholars while the manning company will hire them after one year of shipboard training.
Present during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement last January 4, 2022 were Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, JBLCF-Bacolod Administrator Roberto Neal Sobrejuanite, Fukujin Kisen, Co., Ltd. representative Capt. Achilles Cuadra, Board Member Agustin Ernesto Bascon, the students and their parents.
Lacson reminded the scholars to be diligent, committed and be a source of inspiration to young Negrenses.
“As you venture into this new chapter of advancement in your education and professional life, always remember that you are also paving the way on behalf of the other young Negrenses who are going to follow your footsteps,” he said.
