Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto still prohibits contact sports in Pasig City after a round-table discussion with the baranggay officials.

Inter-Agency Task Force’s (IATF) resolution placed Metro Manila under Alert Level 2 last November 5 which entailed that among the cities, including Pasig, could now conduct contact sports in both indoor and outdoor venues.

However, such development could still change upon the acceptance and decision of each local government unit (LGU) involved.

And Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto made it clear that contact sports are still prohibited except to those with special permits.

Hinihingi ko po ang inyong kooperasyon: BAWAL PO MUNA ANG CONTACT SPORTS (unless w special permit, like PBA),” Sotto shared through his social media account.

Sotto, who was also waiting patiently to play, believed that such action by the LGU would avoid a spike in COVID-19 cases if contact sports were allowed.

Baka maging dahilan pa ito ng isa pang surge,” he said in a separate tweet.

Meanwhile, only the PBA is legally permitted to stage games within Pasig City and is preparing to begin their season.
