TNC TO MISS TI FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 5 YEARS

TNC Predator will miss Dota2's The International for the first time in five years after losing to Fnatic in a best of five grand finals on Saturday.

/ 4 July 2021

TNC was reverse swept by their rivals Fnatic with a score of 3:2, ending their dream to attend TI for the 5th consecutive time.

The Filipino home-grown team initially had a chance to secure an invite to TI10 at the Kyiv Major in Ukraine but fell short after getting eliminated by North American Dota2 squad Evil Genuises.

They were also previously directly invited to TI10 after winning the MDL Chengdu Major in 2019, but the Dota Pro Circuit point system was reset after Covid19 struck the world in 2020, leaving TNC with 0 points at the start of the new season.

The team also failed to qualify for the first Major of the season – The Singapore Major, after losing their wildcard slot to T1.

TNC is hopeful that they can come back to TI again next year.

“The run was near perfect but we came out just one game short. The chance to win TI is not meant for us this year,” TNC said on their Facebook page.

“We would like to thank everyone who supported our TI run this year, although we did not win it all, we’re sure to learn from this downfall and get stronger for next year’s TI. We will see you next season, stronger and better than ever and we’ll claim the crown of SEA once more,” it added.

Meanwhile, the Fnatic franchise will be appearing for the 8th consecutive time at The International in August.
