ATENEO’S FAMED “FAB FIVE” MEMBER DZI GERVACIO JOINS FEU AS VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM DIRECTOR
FEU welcomed former Ateneo 'Fab Five' member Dzi Gervacio to its volleyball program as the school’s director.
Gervacio will handle the roster’s indoor and outdoor volleyball program after having a halted direction in the US for her master’s degree due to the pandemic.
“I am their volleyball program head for both high school and seniors,” Gervacio solidified.
“The plan was pre-COVID to fly to the US for my masters. But since COVID happened practicality-wise, I had to fly back home,” she propounded in “The Game ” of One Sports.
The Perlas Spiker star added that before the new development, FEU’s UAAP board representative Anton Montinola and athletic director Mark Molina tapped her to join the green and gold squad, “and do magical things with it.”
Gervacio met the volleyball coaches and was introduced to the athletes last February 3 via Zoom session which was led by Molina.
While the Tamaraw head coach Ray Diaz averred that Dzi is one of the most respectable athletes of volleyball that would help the FEU’s volleyball program.
“Si ma’am Dzi isang kahanga-hanga na atleta. Nung nasa Perlas kami, kahit may injury laban pa rin, all out, nakakabilib at nakakahanga. Brave siya, bagay nga siya sa FEU,” Diaz shared to SPIN.ph.
“Pag may problema na dapat ayusin sa team, napaka-humble and open niya, napakadali niya lapitan para tumulong na ayusin ang problema. Kaya ang taas ng respeto ko sa kanya, at lalo pa tumaas kasi naging head namin siya sa FEU,” he added.
Aside from Diaz, the Lady Tamaraws head coach George Pascua and Baby Tamaraws head coach Rjhay Del Rosario will now report to Gervacio.
