UE STUDENT BODY APPEALS FOR SPECIAL FINAL EXAMS
THE STUDENT council of the University of the East-Manila called on school officials to give special examinations to the students who failed to take the final exams because of power interruptions and loss of internet connection.
In a letter to Chancellor Linda Santiago, the student council said that some professors threatened to give Lack of Final Requirements marks to those who failed to take their final exams.
The group denounced such a policy, saying it was “inconsiderate.”
It said that the same policy was adopted last year.
“We understand the academic freedom that every professor holds and their right to decide on their classroom policies yet we must always remember that we are in a different and difficult situation,” the student group said.
“It is always the right of the students to receive reasonable and fair policies especially at this given time,” it added.
Meanwhile, the student body reminded the students to provide excuse letters containing the reason/s for their failure to take the scheduled examinations.
It also appealed to professors to provide ways on how they may be contacted if unfavorable situations arise during the online final examination week on December 12 to 16.
