Have you ever wondered why restaurants barely color their interiors purple or blue? Or why staying in a well-lit and yellow colored room makes you feel energetic all of a sudden? Not a lot of people know this but apparently, colors affect our overall mood.

According to experts, color, as part of the electromagnetic spectrum, affects our daily lives in many ways and that includes our study habits.

In fact, in a study published by the New Prairie Press (NPP), it was found that the use of colors in instructional materials has proven to “play an important role in creating different emotional reactions and capturing learners’ attention.”

“A visual design has two functions: One is to support learners to process materials cognitively, and the other is to influence learners’ attitude and motivation effectively In other words, the first function is to influence learners’ cognition, and the second function is to influence learners’ emotions,” the research read.

So what colors could really boost your study habits?

GREEN for CONCENTRATION

If you find it hard to focus on your reading materials, having green colors around you would not hurt. Green resembles the color of nature, keeping your eyes and mind relaxed.

It is also a good color for keeping clarity unlike the colors red, it does not strain the eyes. This is particularly helpful if you feel overwhelmed by all the tasks you need to finish.

BLUE for PRODUCTIVITY

There are really days when your body feels like it does not want to leave the couch. The color blue could help you with that.

Changing your ballpen ink to blue, or using a blue highlighter can help your brain improve its reading capacity and comprehension. In general, this color is relaxing.

YELLOW for an ENERGIZED study session

Sometimes school work can be overwhelming and it is inevitable for both your body and mind to be tired. Good thing the color yellow can instantly make you feel energized, boosting your overall mood so you’re ready to finish more tasks.

This color also radiates positivity and easily lifts confidence levels.

At the end of it all, colors can merely stimulate your mind to do more work. The best way for you to accomplish more tasks is to take care of your mind and body from the inside.

A healthy diet, rest, and checking yourself up once in a while could do wonders for your overall psyche.
