The Fighting Maroons were already ahead and enjoyed a 2-0 set advantage over the Lady Tamaraws. But FEU turned the tables around in the third quarter with a 22-17 lead in favor of UP, the former thrived and surged for a 9-2 rally with Chenie Tagaod on the lead, giving the Lady Tamaraws the third set, 1-2.

FEU continued their perseverance in the fourth frame to tie the set score, 2-2, but UP already had enough as Alyssa Bertolano saved the team as she scored for a kill to put them at match point, 14-10.

Tagaod’s successful block to Bertolano earned FEU one point, 11-14, but it was no longer enough as UP secured the victory thanks to Bertolano’s combination play.

Bertolano led the way for UP as she scored 25 points, 11 excellent receptions, and 10 excellent digs, Marianne Sotomil guided the team with 31 excellent sets, Irah Jaboneta had 13 points, 14 excellent receptions, and 12 excellent digs, while Lorie Bernardo chipped in 13 points and Jewel Encarnacion had 12 points.

Tagaod led the way for the still-winless FEU with 18 points on 15 hits, two aces, and one block, while Jean Asis had 15.

UP will face UST on Tuesday at 10 am while FEU will take on UE at 12 pm on the same day.
