LYCEUM TAKES DOWN PERPETUAL IN THREE SETS
The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) clinched their first win in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) women's volleyball season 97 following a thrilling three-set victory over the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD), 25-23,25-19, 25-16.
It was a close match throughout the first two games, with Lyceum relying on Tulang and Johna Dolorito in the first set.
Dolorito was the driving force behind the Lady Pirates’ victory in the first set, which ended with a score of 25-23 and gave them a one-set advantage, the opening set included assaults from both teams.
A vital 18-16 lead off of her service ace was a much-needed advantage for the team in the second set, in which the open spiker proceeded to flourish in.
Due to an error in Lyceum’s coordination, Perpetual’s rally attempt ended in failure and Lois Sta. Maria scored the game-winning point, bringing the score to 25-16.
Zonxi Dahab and Venice Puzon led Lyceum to a 19-11 victory in the third set after the teams were tied at 10 points apiece.
At the beginning of the third canto, Perpetual made an attempt to keep up with the Lyceum, but the Lyceum Lady Pirates went on a scoring run of nine points in a row which allowed Lyceum to formally take the sweep.
Perpetual will face Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Friday while Lyceum takes on College of Saint Benilde on Wednesday.
