The recruitment of La Salle has been confirmed by head coach Derrick Pumaren to Rappler saying that Macalag “can make things happen for us.”

“He loves to attack the basket. He can create and set up his teammates,” he explained how 18-year-old Greenie is about to gun the Taft based-squad.

Macalalag has been a great player to LSGH that he has been scouted and got offers from San Beda, University of Santo Tomas, National University, and College of St. Benilde. In which he gave all praise and thanks to his LSHG community.

“I’ve been with LSGH for five years and they’ve helped me in so many ways. Kaya po I’m so thankful to my teammates most especially to my coaches and managers po na di po talaga kami pinabayaan despite the pandemic that’s why I really owe them a lot,” he told Tiebreaker Times.

“Given po sa opportunity na magstay sa green side, I know very well that they take good care of their players kaya I had no doubts of staying.”

The 6-foot-2 swingman experienced in NCAA Season 95, averaging 5.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 19 games played is not set to bear fruit as Macalalag was said to have a chance a play for shooting guard or small forward.

“…it’s always been my dream to play po for La Salle and finish my studies there. That’s why I continued to stand firm in upholding my commitment with La Salle when I was recruited po by Manong Derrick [Pumaren],” Macalag added.

“I hope that I will be able to make a difference for the team and play for DLSU with all my heart and with pride. I look forward to contributing to their continued success.”
