LA SALLE PULLS OFF LATE TO WIN OVER FEU
De La Salle University (DLSU) clinched their third straight win after pulling away in the fourth quarter against Far Eastern University (FEU), 75-65, in the UAAP Season 84 men's basketball tournament on Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Justine Baltazar was the main man for La Salle as he delivered with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals.
The Tamaraws started the fourth and final frame with an 11-4 run to cut Green Archers’ lead to 1, 62-61, with six minutes remaining in the clock.
La Salle responded with a 13-4 run led by crucial baskets from Baltazar in the last ticks of the payoff period to secure their third consecutive win.
Mark Nonoy finished with 17 points, two boards, and two assists, while Kurt Lojera scored 10 points, firing seven of his baskets in the fourth, and two rebounds. Michael Phillips tallied a game-high 16 rebounds and six points.
Ljay Gonzalez led the Tams with 17 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists, while high-scoring guard RJ Abarrientos was limited to only nine points on a dismal 1-of-7 clip from the field.
La Salle Green Archers will be against rival Ateneo Blue Eagles, while FEU Tamaraws will face National University Bulldogs on Saturday.
