DLS-CSB THROWS SBU IN THREE-SET SWEEP IN THE OPENING OF NCAA SEASON 97
De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) swept San Beda University (SBU), 25-10, 25-13, 25-15, in the opening campaign of the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball tournament, yesterday.
Mycah Go started off the match with a hit and was followed by a service ace to easily cap off two points. But the Lady Red Spikers failed to retaliate as they went on a scoreless scheme, 1-14, with one coming from a service error of the Benilde.
The Lady Blazers finished the first set with a 10 points advantage and did not also make a difference in the second set as Go and Gayle Pascual commandeered the team after scoring 10 points each to end the second frame at 25-13.
But San Beda found its way back to the game and kept pace with the Blazers for 7-6 after team captain Justine Lapid’s hit. And Go shared that it’s because of their errors that San Beda was able to keep up.
But the mishaps of CSB did not last as Go affirmed that her team set their minds to have fewer errors to have a good flow of the game. So the late run of San Beda was not enough to tame CSB and easily get away.
CSB refused to give Patricia Manalac and Maxinne Tayag more points for the Mendiola-based team as the gap ballooned to 20-12. Lapid of San Beda had a surprise attack before Camill Avila’s winning point, 25-15.
Benilde will be back on Wednesday with a goal of back-to-back wins against Lyceum of the Philippines while San Beda will face off against Arellano University on Tuesday.
