ADAMSON TOSSES OFF UE FOR BREAKTHROUGH WIN IN UAAP SEASON 84
Adamson University (ADU) ventured its ire at the University of the East (UE) in a three-set sweep, 25-16, 25-14, 25-9, yesterday in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.
Following a meltdown in their last encounter against the University of Santo Tomas (UST), the Lady Falcons started the third set 11-1, en route to their fifth win in nine games.
“Bilin namin kanina before the game, talagang yung aggressiveness, yung bawat bola dapat ‘pag hirapan so yun naman yung ginawa nila kanina even though may mga minor na mga errors pa rin, touch net, service,” said Adamson head coach Lerma Giron.
Trisha Genesis commandeered ADU with her 13 points from 10 kills and three service aces to cap the first set with nine points advantage, 25-16.
But the new role of Lucille Almonte of being the libero made some new things for the team to adjust yet had received sufficiently with eight digs. Kate Santiago and May Ann Nuique also did their part with nine markers.
Adamson also seized the second set and much more of the third set in which their advantage ballooned to 15 points, two markers away from the match point as Lorene Toring released a power tip.
UE’s Ja Lana made an attack error and the Lady Falcons did not waste time to grab the victory at 25-9, keeping the Lady Warriors winless, 0-9.
Adamson will aim to make its win two in a row against FEU on Tuesday, while UE will try to win its first game of the tournament against the undefeated NU on the same day.
