After the recent cancellation of UAAP Season 83, the league is now hopping on the hope that Season 84 will be plausible in September 2021 with a traditional opening.

According to the UAAP’s Executive Director Atty. Rebo Saguisag, the league’s plan will push through if the current COVID-19 situation improves.

“Our target will be the default traditional opening of September 2021…hopefully, the vaccines are here, we have better protocols, and the situation has improved, unless of course, the Board deems it otherwise to adjust again,” he said.

“Our target, and we haven’t really discussed it, but kung walang discussion, we’ll stay with the default which is the usual opening around September 2021, if all goes well,” Saguisag added.

Although Season 83 has been canceled, Saguisag affirmed that the said Season will still be recorded for the continuity of the league’s legacy.

“Season 83 will still be Season 83. We cannot skip a season. COVID has changed the way we lived our lives, we take the good with the bad,” he shared.

On the other hand, if Season 84 will happen in September 2021, Saguisag clarified that La Salle will still be staging as hosts.

Moreover, the opening ceremonies, Cheerdance Competition, and the men’s basketball and women’s volleyball tournaments will be broadcasted live on One Sports as per the confirmation of Robert P. Galang, Cignal TV, and TV5 President and CEO.

The other events will be shown on the other Cignal channels on a catch-up basis.

“There will be broadcast for all events, but not all will be live,” said Galang.

“We are committed to the UAAP to broadcast the games,” he concluded.
