Topex Robinson opts to continue Coach Louie Alas’ program for Phoenix
Several weeks after Phoenix Super LPG management oust Louie Alas from his position as head coach, the former assistant coach Topex Robinson conducted his first practice inside the PBA bubble as the new head mentor.
It is the start of a new era for Fuel Masters to have Robinson as the new chief tactician.
Despite Alas’ discontinued service as head coach, Robinson still intends to pursue what Alas has left for the team.
“We’re just picking up where he [Alas] left off. Lahat nga rito is part of his program,” Robinsons revealed in an interview with 20T Friday Night Live.
He then shared his gratitude for all the support given to him. Thus adapting to his new position is a big responsibility.
Robinsons and Alas have been working together since they were both assistant coaches for Alaska Aces and both transferred to Phoenix Fuel Masters as head coach and assistant coach.
During the interview, the current consultant of the Lyceum Pirates recalled all the drilling and training he learned from the veteran Alas.
“I really learned a lot from him because of the experiences he had. He’s won championships. He’s been successful,” added Robinson.
Given his new job, Robinson admitted that he still goes back to all the things he learned from Coach Alas.
Under the supervision of Alas, Phoenix Fuel Master was reconstructed as a winning squad causing extreme pressure for Robinson.
“It’s a big responsibility. It’s gonna be a new experience. Kasi when you are an assistant, you suggest. Pagka naging head coach ka na, you decide. Whatever you decide on, the buck will always come on you.” He said.
