Ageo medics defeated the Okayama Seagulls in a thrilling four sets match, 17-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20, which landed them the fifth place.

The former NU Lady bulldogs unleashed 9 kills and 2 blocks for the team finishing with a solid 11 points in the one hour and 54 minutes showdown.

Trail-blazing Ageo Medics was the outside hitter, Yuka Sato finishing with the most makers of 25 out of her 26 attacks. Followed by Yuri Yoshino and Shainah Joseph scored 16 and 17, respectively.

On the opponent’s side, Syuka Kaneda was a key player with 11 attacks and 2 blocks for the Seagulls while Mae Watanabe was also able to throw in 18 points in 52 attempts.

Ageo Medics earned a shot at the battle for fifth after dismissing Hitachi Rivale in four sets, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 25-14, last Saturday. Santiago scored 13 points in that win, including 4 kill blocks.

Despite an impressive run at the latter part of the season, it wasn’t enough for the team to make it to the podium in back-to-back seasons.

In 2019-2020, Ageo Medics completed the season in third place bagging a bronze medal.

Two weeks ago, the 6-foot-5 volleyball star said in the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) that she will be back home by march and will be exploring the possibilities of playing other overseas leagues.
