New names are brewing to claim the title as the new ‘The Fast and The Furious’ as Evan Nelle and Mark Nonoy jumps to Taft Avenue to play for the green and white.

The loved duo of 2009 PBA MVP Jayjay Helterbrand and 2012 MVP Mark Caguioa was the first duo to be crowned with the tag, however, fans are now looking at these new recruits to follow the steps of these legends.

Lasallians are elated as the tandem of Nelle and Nonoy accepts the challenge to lead the Green Archers in the hardcourt.

Sa akin naman, okay lang naman. I can accept the challenge and siguro normal naman sa tao ‘yun,” Nonoy said in an interview with 2OT podcast.

Kung ganon nga, sige okay lang. Panindigan, and try lang namin ‘yung best namin [to live up to it],” he added.

With both players having an explosive performance in their previous schools, the two are expected to wreak havoc in Season 84.

The 5-foot-8 Nonoy claimed the Rookie of the Year plum last UAAP Season 82 after averaging 11.11 points, 3.83 rebounds, and 2.78 assists per game for the Growling Tigers.

On the other hand, the 5-foot-10 Nelle averaged 10.2 points, 6.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game as he led the Red Lions to a finals showdown against their rivals Letran Knights—ending their dynasty.

Despite playing the same positions, they are willing to hold back with the pressure as their main goal is to bring La Salle to a stellar championship.

With the new season fast approaching, Nonoy wants to set his mind first with the new environment.

“Sana makapag-adjust kami sa school. ‘Yun talaga ‘yung foundation. Pagiging student before athlete. So sana maka-adjust kami and siguro kung anong ginawa ko sa Season 82, sana higitan ko pa sa Season 84. Gawin ko lang ‘yung makakaya ko para mabalik sa championship,” he expressed.
