THE NATIONAL Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 unfolds Sunday with a thrilling twinbill right after the 2 p.m. opening ceremony at the Mall of Asia Arena.

This season, NCAA Season 99 represents a return to normalcy after a challenging period brought about by the pandemic. It introduces an extended sports calendar that not only brings back beloved sports such as basketball, volleyball, athletics, and swimming but also reintroduces badminton and table tennis.

Furthermore, the lineup encompasses activities like cheerleading, taekwondo, chess, as well as grassroots initiatives such as kiddie basketball and 3×3 basketball.

Dr. Vincent Fabella, the president of the Season 99 policy board, lauds the Management Committee for their efforts in rejuvenating the league amidst the pandemic’s challenges.

He expresses excitement about the eagerness of student-athletes to return to full-scale competition and foresees a higher level of competition and excellence this season.

The recent excitement surrounding the FIBA World Cup only adds to the anticipation, promising an enjoyable upcoming season for all.

The MOA Arena will serve as the venue for the first game since the FIBA World Cup final, featuring the Letran Knights, who are gunning for their fourth consecutive title under the new head coach, Rensy Bajar.

Their opponents will be the JRU Heavy Bombers, the hosting team for this season, with the game kicking off at 3 pm, following the 2 pm opening ceremonies.

In another thrilling matchup, the CSB Blazers, the runners-up in Season 98, will make their debut at 5:30 pm against the LPU Pirates, former title contenders.

Following the double-header opening at the MOA Arena, men’s basketball games will take place almost daily at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City, with Mondays and Wednesdays being the only rest days.

Saturdays will feature games starting at 9:30 am, while Sundays will treat fans to a triple-header, commencing at 10 am.
