FILIPINO DESIGNERS VIES FOR A CHANCE TO WIN P35,000 IN NAS LOGO MAKING CONTEST
With the construction of the National Academy of Sports (NAS) along its way, aspiring designers will have a chance to win P35,000 where the winning piece will be the official logo of the facility set up in New Clark City.
The government has called for aspiring designers to work on their craft and are given a deadline of May 21 to submit their design to become the official logo for the NAS.
The winning masterpiece will gain rights that will serve as the official logo of the NAS and will be used in all official documents, events, and transactions.
The NAS was signed into law (RA 11470) in June of last year which calls for a government-run school for the country’s future athletes located at the New Clark City Sports Complex.
“NAS will provide world-class facilities and services, including sports sciences, at par with international standards to develop the athletic skills and talents of student-athletes and at the same time provide high-quality academic instruction,” said the academy’s executive director, Josephine Reyes, during a site visit to NCC last December.
The logo-making contest was announced by the academy’s Facebook page earlier this month.
The Academy had presented some guidelines that will be integrated into the logo including its core values—nationalism, achievement, and solidarity—as well as mission and vision.
Moreover, the colors of the Philippine flag must also be used in the logo and must adhere to creativity and originality while the elements and fonts should be royalty-free, and the phrases “Year of Establishment: 2020” and “Philippines” must also be seen in the design.
Beyond these guidelines set, designers are free to apply the NAS’s mission, vision, and core values into a meaningful and recognizable mark.
The Academy also presented criteria for judging: overall impression (25%), originality (20%), creativity (20%), composition/rationale (10%), technique (10%), visual appeal (10%), and functionality (5%).
The deadline for entries is at 11:59 p.m. on May 21. Entries should be 1440 x 1440 pixels in size at 72 dpi, saved as either at JPG or a PNG file. Entries should be named as “[your name]_logo”, as in “SpinPH_logo”, and submitted to [email protected], with “[Your name] / Logo” as the email subject.
Aside from the logo-making contest, NAS is holding entries for their school hymn which the deadline is on May 31. The winning piece will receive P50,000.
