FIL-AM JALEN GREEN SELECTED AS NO. 2 PICK BY HOUSTON ROCKETS; NBTC PROUD TO HAVE HIM IN THEIR LEAGUE
Fil-Am Jalen Green was picked as the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by Houston Rockets in which NBTC was honored to have him and be an early witness to his growth.
“It was a privilege having Jalen Green come to play in the NBTC National Finals for two consecutive years. His commitment to come to the SM Mall of Asia Arena and play in Manila displayed his love for his Filipino roots and we’re honored to have him,” said NBTC founder Eric Altamirano.
“I have seen Jalen up close and watched this young man electrify the crowd with his exceptional level of play but more than that he endeared himself to so many people he interacted with,” he added.
It is without a doubt that Jalen will be easily scouted as he averaged 17.9 points and 46 percent shooting from the field in the 15 games he played in the G-league.
While Ignite team head coach Brian Shaw averred that Green has performed very well and surpassed what has been expected from him.
“The biggest thing I learned is to have that next shot, next play mentality,” said Green on his G-league performance.
Standing 6-foot-6, Jalen is set to be the third player who has Filipino blood to make it to the NBA league.
“I love the Philippines. They show love and support. I’m just happy I get to represent them. I hope they’re excited.”
