EJ OBIENA TIED FOR SECOND PLACE IN POLAND MEET

EJ Obiena bounced back from Belgium tilt as he finished in a joint second place in the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow, Poland on Sunday.

Few days before the Poland meet, Obiena wound up in 10th at the Memorial Van Damme in Brussels, Belgium after clearing 5.65m only.

Regardless of the results of his recent competition, the 25-year-old pole vaulter, Obiena, returned and cleared 5.80m against nine other pole vaulter delegates.

KC Lightfoot of the United States also cleared 5.80m to which he and Obiena tied silver medalists, while Chris Nilsen dominated the event and brought home the Poland title after clearing 5.86m.

Meanwhile, Olympic champion and recent titleholder of Wanda Diamond League Brussels Armand Duplantis of Sweden missed the event.

World no. 5 in athletics rankings, Obiena smoothly cleared 5.40m and 5.60m, and took two tries at 5.80m, but missed at 5.86m chance.

Obiena once again tried to beat his personal record of 5.91m by clearing 5.92m but failed to do so at two tries.

In the meantime, Obiena is set to compete in the Wanda Diamond League final in Zurich, Switzerland from Sept. 8-9.
