ANIMAM FOREFRONTS WIN OVER FO GUANG IN UBA SEMIS
Gilas women star Jack Animam pins another dominant play as Shih Hsin University (SHU) takes over Fo Guang, 92-50, this time, limiting their opponents to just five points in the third quarter to remain unbeaten in the University Basketball Alliance Saturday at Taipei Stadium.
Animam, who is the frontrunner for the league’s MVP, spearheaded the Tiger’s attack, guns a superb double-double line of 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and 16 rebounds, as well as 3 blocks, 3 steals, and an assist.
SHU kept it tense in the first two quarters with only leading the game up to five points, 39-34.
Then came the second half the defending champion surged with a 27-5 point advantage to take full control of a commanding 66-39 point deficit leaving Fo Guang in the dust.
The Tigers now added their continuous win to 3-0 record in the semifinals.
Animam’s teammates also contributed to the victory with Lin Die top-scored with her 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 assists, while Chen Yuti and Deborah Onianwa ended with 10 points, 3 boards, and 3 steals and 11 points and 7 rebounds off the bench respectively.
For Fo Guang, Chen Yuting led with 13 points, followed by Yang Wanlin with 12 points from their 18-of-61 shot from the field.
The Tigers will work toward extending their unbeaten run against National Normal Taiwan University on Sunday.
