Aldin Ayo in Dire Strait as UAAP Board Wants Sanctions for UST Bubble Training

Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo is in hot water as the UAAP Board of Managing Directors (BMD) has recommended the league Board of Trustees to sanction the head coach for instigating the offseason training in Sorsogon.

/ 4 September 2020

The alleged ‘Sorsogon bubble’ is in violation of government protocols on school and athletic activities during quarantine.

Sources have confirmed that athletic directors from all eight universities are looking at the head coach to be held accountable.

In a statement released by the UAAP, they have confirmed that the said recommendation has been submitted.

Although, the said statement did not mention if the said sanction would mean a suspension or banishment.

There is also no mention of the NU women’s volleyball team, UP, and La Salle in the said statement.

Here’s the UAAP full statement:

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Board of Managing Directors (BMD) met on September 3, Thursday, to discuss the report submitted by the University of Santo Tomas concerning allegations on its basketball training activities during quarantine.

The discussion covered compliance with government-issued guidelines and protocols on the conduct of school and athletic activities during the community quarantine.

Following a lengthy discussion, the UAAP BMD drafted its recommendations, which will be submitted to the UAAP Board of Trustees for review and approval.

The UAAP understands the gravity of the matter as it concerns the safety and well-being of student-athletes of a member-school.
