VARIOUS MERALCO FACILITIES RECEIVE SAFETY SEAL CERTIFICATIONS FOR COVID19 EFFORTS

25 November 2021

The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) continues to give utmost priority to the health and safety of all its employees
and customers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the start of the outbreak last year, Meralco has established its own COVID-19 health and safety protocols
based on the guidelines set by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Health
(DOH) to help ensure that the public and its employees are protected from the virus.

These efforts have paid off as Meralco received a total of 19 Safety Seal Certifications for its facilities. The list
includes certifications for Parañaque Sector and San Miguel Extension Office which were awarded on
November 18; Alabang Business Center (BC) on November 15; Angono, Cainta and Antipolo BCs, and San
Mateo Extension Office on November 11; Sta. Rosa Sector on November 9; Marikina BC on November 8; and
Pasig Sector on November 5.

Also in the list are Mandaluyong BC (October 26), Pasig BC (October 21), San Jose Extension Office (October
20), España BC and Market! Market! Customer Office (October 19), and Metropoint Extension Office, Makati
and Pasay BCs (October 5).

The Meralco Operating Center (MOC) in Ortigas, meanwhile, was certified on September 22; while Dasmariñas
Sector and BC earlier received theirs last September 8.

The Safety Seal Certification is a voluntary certification scheme that affirms that an establishment is compliant
with the minimum public health standards set by the government. The DOLE issues the Safety Seal for the
manufacturing, construction sites, utilities (electric, water, gas, air conditioning supply, sewerage, waste
management) information and communication companies (private publication, news, movie production, TV and
radio companies), and warehouses.

“These Safety Seals are proof that the COVID-19 prevention and control programs being implemented in these
Meralco facilities are aligned with the minimum health protocols set by the government,” said Organizational
Safety and Business Continuity Management Head Antonio M. Abuel, Jr.

“The Safety Seal certificates signify our commitment to provide a healthy and safe workplace not just for our
employees, but for the public that we serve,” he added.

Other Meralco facilities continue work to secure Safety Seal Certifications as part of efforts to ensure a safe
and healthy workplace for its employees and all visiting customers.
