TESDA CALABARZON LAUNCHES ITS FIRST ONLINE WORLD CAFE OF OPPORTUNITIES

26 August 2021

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IV-A prospects to connect technical vocational education and training (TVET) graduates with career opportunities through a virtual job facilitation program during the conduct of the first-ever online World Cafe of Opportunities (WCO) on August 25, 2021.

The WCO is part of the agency’s poignant event every TESDA Anniversary and National Tech-Voc Day. TESDA’s World Café of Opportunities brings together industry partners and companies with our tech-voc alumni to offer them work opportunities. WCO urges TVET graduates to utilize pre-employment advising services in addition to determining wage or self-employment opportunities.

The graduates can access up-to-date labor market information and in-demand companies under the sectors of construction, IT-BPM, and manufacturing. Through the help of the national government agency partners, WCO also aims to help the country boost its employment rate while enhancing job-skills matching and training opportunities. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, and the Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) will also collaborate for the successful conduct of the WCO.

With the pandemic still in effect, TESDA’s WCO will be conducted virtually for the first time. The TESDA Region IV-A and its provincial units have partnered with WORKBANK and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)  to streamline job search among TVET graduates for a seamless and more convenient process. With this, TVET graduates have the opportunity to seal a deal or to sign a contract at the comfort of their homes, reducing also the risk of being infected by the COVID-19.

This is a manifestation that the commitment of TESDA does not only end at providing quality training to TVET scholars. The authority also ensures that graduates will gain better employment or livelihood opportunities.
