GLOBE WORKING TO RESTORE SERVICE IN TYPHOON-HIT AREAS, OUTAGES DUE TO POWER FAILURE

Network fully operational in NCR

26 September 2022

Globe has started urgent work to restore services in typhoon-battered areas in Luzon as field personnel begin to take account of the toll of Super Typhoon Karding, which crossed the main island group Sunday, bringing heavy rains and lashing winds.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), all communication lines have been restored and are now completely functional.

In Southern Luzon, Globe service in most of Quezon’s Polillo Group of Islands, a heavily affected area, has been restored. Call, text and data service are back up in Burdeos, Patnanungan, Polillo and Jomalig, with only Panukulan left to be restored.

In Rizal province, on the other hand, 80% of municipalities that have encountered typhoon-related outages have also been reconnected.

Globe had prepositioned its field personnel in areas on Karding’s path, allowing immediate dispatch of technical teams for service restoration.

Following explosive intensification, Karding hit land Sunday with powerful winds and heavy rains, pummeling much of Luzon. An estimated 74,000 people were evacuated due to the storm, according to a government briefing Monday morning. Authorities are still assessing the damage toll.

To provide urgent connectivity in severely-hit areas, Globe is deploying Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi stations in provinces severely hit by Karding. Operations started Monday in four Nueva Ecija barangays, while booths will be in place starting Tuesday in three Quezon towns.
