GLOBE PREPARES NETWORK FOR PAENG, READY TO DEPLOY FREE CALL, CHARGING AND WIFI STATIONS IN AREAS ON STORM’S PATH
Globe has started preparing its network and personnel for the expected impact of Tropical Storm Paeng, which is expected to intensify as it crosses Luzon over the long weekend.
Technical and support personnel are on standby on the path of the storm to ensure sustained network operations in anticipation of the weather system, and for swift response to issues that may ensue. Globe facilities are also ready with generators and redundant alternative power sources to preclude any service disruption in case of power outages.
Globe is also ready to deploy Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi Services in areas where the storm may cause power and service outages.
To make sure customers get timely and verified weather updates, Globe is also providing free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). Globe would like to remind the public to get their information from legitimate and trusted news sources to make sure they get vetted weather information, and heed warnings sent by the agency via SMS alerts.
Globe also urges residents in areas on Paeng’s path to prepare for the oncoming storm by storing enough food and water, preparing first aid kits, emergency light sources and batteries, and charging their mobile phones.
As of Friday, Tropical Storm Paeng was forecast to intensify as it crossed the Philippine Sea towards the Luzon land mass. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
Paeng is expected to cross Luzon over the long weekend, when millions of Filipinos are expected to mark All Saints’ Day by visiting their loved ones in cemeteries across the country. Globe urges the public to plan their trips accordingly and put their safety as top priority.
