GLOBE ACCELERATES NATIONWIDE CONNECTIVITY WITG 116 NEW CELL SITES

10 June 2024

Globe continues to expand its network’s reach and capacity to improve customer experience and service delivery, building 116 new cell sites and upgrading 812 mobile sites to LTE in Q1 this year.

Globe has also deployed 19,544 more fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines, composed of fiber optic cables that can transmit data at very high speeds. While the figure is lower compared to last year’s rollout, it is a strategic move to maximize the utilization of the company’s existing fiber inventory amid a reduction in capital expenditures.

By leveraging its current fiber resources, Globe aims to serve the underserved prepaid fiber market, ensuring broader access to reliable and high-quality broadband services.

Joel Agustin, Globe’s SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering, emphasized the importance of these efforts: “Our plan supplements investments we’ve made in the last 3-4 years. We remain focused on improving service consistency and availability to deliver good customer experience and support traffic across regions and territories.”

Globe’s continuous investments in network infrastructure ensure enhanced connectivity, facilitating a range of digital activities from online learning and remote work to e-commerce and entertainment. This aligns with its mission to empower individuals and businesses through innovative digital solutions.

The company’s strategic initiatives and investments are set to pave the way for a more digitally inclusive future, ensuring that the benefits of technology reach every corner of the nation.
