ELON MUSK: CRAZY. RICH. GENIUS.
Three words to describe Elon Musk: Crazy, Rich, and Genius. Here’s Why:
HE WANTS TO BUILD A CITY THAT FULLY RUNS IN SOLAR ENERGY
The 49-year-old billionaire loves to involve himself in many ventures, especially promoting sustainable energy. He currently invests in Tesla and Solarcity that are examples of companies that have significant environmental initiatives. Tesla Motors encourage people to use smart self-driving cars that entirely run on electricity instead of gasoline.
Simultaneously, Solarcity develops solar panels and solar roof tiles that generate power for houses and establishments like Tesla charging stations. Elon is envisioning a future that no longer relies on fossil fuel energy or any non-renewable energy contributing to global warming.
HE WANTS TO COLONIZE MARS
Aside from being a crazy rich entrepreneur and part-time Otaku, Elon-chan is also a crazy visionary. Steve Jobs once said, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” It is only in movies that we hear civilizations conquering other planets, but Elon Musk is on his way to his vision. He privately-funded a rocket manufacturing company called SpaceX. The company started as manufacturers of crewless cargo vehicles that transport supplies to the International Space Station, but in 2017 the company successfully launched the Falcon 9, their recoverable and reusable rocket. It is a milestone not only in the history of space crafts but also in sustainable engineering. Currently, SpaceX is developing the Starlink, the vehicle that will “make humanity multi-planetary”. According to SpaceX’s website, Starship will be the world’s most powerful launch vehicle ever developed, with the ability to carry more than 100 metric tonnes to Earth orbit and the ability to return to Earth.
Impossible? Wait ‘til you hear that Elon is also investing in Hyperloop…
HE WANTS TO TRAVEL IN HYPERSONIC SPEED
This vehicle is technically not a train, and it does not run on rails. By Virgin company, Hyperloop is a high-speed transportation system that uses a pod-like passenger carriage in a near-vacuum tube that is envisioned to reach speeds over 700 mph (Making it the fastest way a human can travel). This can tube can take passengers from Manila to Baguio in just a matter of minutes. According to its website, the Virgin Hyperloop has been built to be entirely run on electricity, drawing power from anywhere along its route, potentially including solar panels covering the tubes. The project really sounds like one of Elon Musk’s investments.
