/ 6 September 2022

THE TECHNICAL Education and Skills Development Authority in Central Luzon kicked off its Regional Skills Competition at the Regional Training Center in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

The four-day tournament was led by Tesda Regional Director Balmyrson Valdez and seven provincial directors from Bulacan, Tarlac, Bataan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, and Aurora.

“Skills competition promotes skills excellence. It provides opportunities for young individuals to compete and demonstrate their competencies, in particular, vocational skills using task and industry-based scenarios,” Valdez said.

“It also inspires young individuals to reach new heights, helping them turn their passion into a profession,” he added.

Participants will compete in graphic design technology, network cabling, web technology, baking, cooking, mobile robots, hairdressing, landscape gardening, welding, automobile technology, carpentry, refrigeration and air-conditioning, fashion technology, electrical installation and plumbing.

Meanwhile, Sen. Joel Villanueva said the skills competition will help participants strengthen their “multiple intelligences.”

Winners in the regional meet will join the national skills competition. The national champions will thereafter compete in the World Skills Competition-Special Edition to be held in Finland and the Asian Skills Competition in China.
