TESDA BOOSTS ENTERPRISE-BASED TRAINING IN DAVAO
THE TECHNICAL Education and Skills Development Authority and the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. signed an agreement to enhance the Enterprise-Based Training program in Davao Region.
The Memorandum of Agreement signed by TESDA chief Isidro Lapeña and DCCCII President Dr. Maria Lourdes Monteverde on June 3 aims to provide better opportunities for TESDA graduates.
Under the agreement, TESDA shall provide technical assistance to applicants in the registration of their programs based on set guidelines and implement competency assessment and skills certification of industry-based professionals.
Meanwhile, DCCCII will promote and secure employment opportunities of professionals who are graduates of TESDA. It will also allow industry immersion of Technical Vocational Education and Training trainers.
In his speech, Lapeña acknowledged the invaluable role of industries in developing a more demand-driven training delivery to ensure that the supply of trained workers matches the demand of industry.
EBT is one of the training delivery modes where TVET programs are implemented within companies or firms such as the Apprenticeship, Dual Training System, and Learnership Programs.
“We intend to further deepen our engagement and work toward the facilitation of job opportunities to our graduates,” Lapeña said.
He added that the partnership aims to strengthen TESDA’s engagement with the industries and harmonize skills and standards to provide better opportunities for the Filipino workforce.
Monteverde vowed to work closely with TESDA in the implementation of the program.
“Let us continue working together with one common goal — to establish a harmonious business community for our city, and the Philippines as a whole as we go through with this pandemic,” she said.
