A TEACHER in Bato, Camarines Sur drowned when he was swept away by floodwaters on Tuesday, August 23, according to a police report.

Initial investigation of Bato Municipal Police Station showed that the victim and a co-teacher were crossing a spillway onboard a bicycle when the incident happened.

The victim’s colleague tried to rescue him but he soon disappeared in the floodwater.

The victim’s co-teacher was able to swim to safety.

“Hindi naman galing sa school. Kumbaga nag-survey lang ng area kung puwedeng daanan ‘yung lugar. Humupa na ‘yung ulan. ‘Yung tubig diyan, medyo malakas pa rin ‘yung agos,” Bato MPS officer-in-charge Police Captain Reymond Quinito said.
