/ 17 September 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Education Schools Division Office in Iloilo City sought the help of barangay officials to reach more learners who have not enrolled for the current school year.

Dr. Ma. Luz De los Reyes, SDO Iloilo City superintendent, said that they are short of their target enrollment of 84,000 students.

The number of enrollees for this school year is slightly higher than last year’s 81,000.

“We’ll write the mayor a letter and ask the barangay to map out who the school-age youngsters haven’t yet enrolled are,” De los Reyes said.

As of September 15, 74,166 students were officially enrolled in the division— 4,664 in kindergarten, 35,362 in elementary, 23,467 junior high school, and 9,164 senior high school.

SDO Iloilo added that there are 148 special education students, 1,012 alternative learning system students and 349 students enrolled in state universities and colleges.
