/ 21 January 2021

AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Education on Wednesday reminded school heads to refrain from pressuring teachers so that the latter would not bear down on learners.

Estela Cariño, regional director of the DepEd’s Cordillera Administrative Region, said that school heads should not exert undue pressure on teachers to prevent mentors from pressuring learners.

“One cannot really expect all learners to be performing at the same pace given the current circumstances,” she explained.

Cariño said that teachers and students continue to adjust to the new way of education.

“We need to remember and accept the need for paradigm shift because what we were doing before cannot be applied today; this is a totally different environment and we have to embrace it,” she said.

She called for patience and understanding of students especially those who may be struggling because of the pandemic.

“We do not know the real situations our learners are experiencing right now. For all we know they might be thinking on how they can put food on their table, so let us not burden them or pressure them, instead, we must be understanding,” Cariño said.

DepEd CAR has conducted a workshop to ensure the availability of quality Self-Learning Modules for Grade 4 to Grade 12. students.

It also guarantees strict compliance with SLM development and contextualization with established Learning Resources standards and processes.
