MAYOR Aristotle Aguirre of Mulanay, Quezon province on Monday suspended classes in the municipality after four schools received continuous bomb threats.

Classes were cancelled at the Sta. Rosa Elementary School, Mulanay Central Elementary School, Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Mulanay.

Aguirre said the spread of bomb threat messages triggered the decision for the cancellation.

“Noong isang araw pa po ‘yun. Hindi po muna pinansin ng pamunuan ng PUP-Mulanay ngunit noong pangalawang araw na ay sunod-suno na ang komunikasyon ng nagtethreat sa mga estudyante,” Aguirre said.

Operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Division of the Quezon Provincial Philippine National Police inspected the schools and other areas on Sunday night.

No explosive device was found.

Meanwhile, the mayor called on his constituents to be more vigilant.

“Sa ating mga kababayang Mulanayin, ganun pa rin po ang aking paalala na iwasan ang pagpa-panic bagkus ay maging mapagmatyag,” he said.
