LEYTE SK SETS UP COMPUTER LIBRARY
THE SANGGUNIANG Kabataan of Barangay Canramos in Tanauan town in Leyte set up a computer library to help students without access to gadgets and the internet.
Barangay Canramos SK chairman Nikko Cesar said the project started in June this year. It was supposed to coincide with the opening of classes which was moved to October 5.
“It was planned and funded even before the pandemic since our community is home to four big schools in town. It is very timely that this was realized in the time that we are adapting to the new normal,” Cesar said.
To gain free access, students are encouraged to donate plastic bottles. These would then be sold by the council to purchase paper reams and ink cartridges.
The Canramos youth council strictly implements health protocols in the facility such as wearing of masks, hand washing and social distancing.
It plans to purchase more computer units next year to accommodate more students and help them with online learning.
