GROUPS DONATE SCHOOL BUILDINGS TO ILOILO, CEBU
THE PARTNERSHIP between the Global Business Power Corp. and GT Foundation Inc. proved to be a boon to the provinces of Iloilo and Cebu.
The two provinces received school buildings donated by the two institutions.
The Panay Energy Development Corp. and Cebu Energy Development Corp. — both under GBP — built a two-classroom building at the NJ Ingore Elementary School in La Paz, Iloilo City and a similar structure at the North City Central School in Toledo City, Cebu.
The project aimed to address the possible enrollment growth and improve the learning conditions once face-to-face classes resume.
Each donated classroom can accommodate up to 40 people and comes furnished with desks, student chairs, teacher’s tables, cabinets, electric fans and a smart television.
“[The way] we respond to a crisis defines who we are, and showcases what we are made of,” Aniceto Sobrepeña, GTFI executive director, said.
“In more ways than one, these school buildings are a testament of our resolve to follow-through with our commitment, despite the difficulties we faced in the previous year,” Sobrepeña added.
Meanwhile, GBP President Jaime Azurin said they recognize that education is vital in creating an enlightened nation.
He added that similar projects would contribute to community development and in the improvement of the educational system in the country.
The PEDC supports 43 scholars in NJIES, while CEDC sponsors 42 scholars in NCCS as part of GBP’s scholarship program.
