FIRST Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos led the State Universities and Colleges Fair 2023, a four-day celebration, in Iloilo City.

West Visayas State University hosted the event under the stewardship of its president, Dr. Joselito Villaruz.

Over 100 SUCs nationwide participate in the annual event to demonstrate their finest practices, cutting-edge technologies, artistic talent, and one-of-a-kind goods.

Commission on Higher Education Region 6 director Dr. Raul Alvarez Jr. expressed hope that visitors and local government units will benefit from the event.

“Our SUCs have many inventions and researches especially in agriculture and fisheries. I hope mapansin sang aton mga stakeholders and investors,” Alvarez said.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that the city is a growing center for higher education.

“We have the most number of graduates in the whole of Visayas and Mindanao. Our universities are among the best in the country,” he said.

“This is the reason I make sure Iloilo remains the most business-friendly highly-urbanized city in the country. As we continue to invest in education, I do not doubt that Iloilo City will continue to be a beacon of progress and opportunities,” the mayor added.

Last year, the SUC Fair was held in Pasay City.
