EASTERN SAMAR DEPLOYS 1.3K TEACHER-FACILITATORS

/ 19 October 2020

THE PROVINCIAL  government of Eastern Samar hired an additional 1,300 teachers to augment the shortage of teaching staff needed for distance learning.

Hired as job order employees, the additional personnel will serve as teacher-facilitators for the school divisions of Eastern Samar and Borongan City.

Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone said this move was made to support the learning continuity program of the Department of Education.

“These teacher-facilitators will serve as tutors for pupils and students to better understand the learning materials and will likewise assist teachers in the distribution of modules,” Evardone said.

“These are licensed teachers who will be handling learners in primary and secondary schools, depending on their major or specialization,” he added.

For their initial deployment, each of the tutors will receive a daily wage of P300. They will be required to work three days per week until December.

According to the agreement between the provincial government and the two school divisions, the three-month contract of the teacher-facilitators will earn them relevant experience once they apply for a regular teaching position.

DepEd Eastern Visayas praised the province for being the only local government in the region to hire a large number of teacher-facilitators to support the education sector amid the pandemic.
