DEPED TRAINS BICOL TEACHERS, PERSONNEL ON SOFTWARE USE

/ 22 April 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Education office in Bicol Region guided its teaching and non-teaching personnel on the use of the open broadcaster software studio to augment the shortage in open education resources.

Spearheaded by the DepEd’s Central Office Edtech Unit and the ICT Unit of Schools Division Office of Ligao City, the webinar taught the participants basic skills and usage of the OBS on creating offline video materials.

Various experts from the field of Information and Communications Technology shared their respective knowledge to assist the participants in creating their offline learning materials for their learners.

“The offering of training and upskilling activities such as this, the ones that provides additional knowledge and skills on technology to maximize the use of communication platforms for teaching and learning is what we really need in these very challenging times,” DepEd Bicol Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad shared.

Aside from the online features of the OBS, the webinar also introduced the essential things to take into consideration when live-streaming on social media using the platform.

Teachers from different field studies, education program supervisors, module writers and editors joined the three-day webinar and workshop.

The initiative was also in line with Education Secretary Leonor Briones’ directives to ensure the delivery of quality and accessible basic education by bridging digital gaps and focusing on ICT-assisted teaching-learning, administration and governance.

“The central and field offices need to collaborate in improving and enriching the quality of the distance learning. We need to be ready to digitalize our delivery of education in the succeeding years,” Briones said.

“Information and Communications Technology will help us in the long run as we continuously provide basic education to learners, including the Last Mile Schools in the country,” she added.
