DEPED TO BUILD CLASSROOMS IN BICOL
DEPARTMENT OF Education Undersecretary for Administration and Operations Revsee Escobedo said that the department plans to construct school buildings in Bicol region.
This is in connection with the plan to close schools within the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone of Mayon Volcano.
Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio and other officials decided to permanently close two schools in the town of Malilipot and Tabaco City.
In his visit to the province, Escobedo said that the closure plan is not unilateral as they are also considering the communities covered by the 6 km PDZ.
Despite this, he said that due attention should be given to the quality of education of the students who are constantly affected by the volcanic activities.
The local government said that it will immediately process the identification of lots where school buildings can be built, the Albay Public Information Office said.
