DEPED, PH ARMY MOUNT INFO CAMPAIGN ON COMMUNIST RECRUITMENT OF STUDENTS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education’s Schools Division Office in Aurora partnered with the Army’s 91st Infantry Battalion to mount an information awareness campaign on the recruitment of students by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army.
Under the agreement, the DepEd will support the 91IB’s efforts to educate students on the communist armed struggle.
The DepEd will allow youth information awareness campaigns in the neighborhood of pre-identified schools.
Students in Grades 9, 10, and senior high school are the campaign’s target audience.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by the superintendent of the Aurora Schools Division, Dr. Catalina Paez, and the commander of the 91IB, Lt. Col. Julito Recto Jr.
The collaboration with the Philippine Army elated Paez.
“There is a saying that it takes a village to raise a child. Our department is looking for partners who will provide and help us. We are continuing to negotiate with our partners with a good heart that will help our youth and the community. Every centavo, time, and efforts that our partners gave are important to our department,” she said.
