DEPED INAUGURATES 2 SCHOOL BUILDINGS IN DUMAGUETE CITY

/ 25 March 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Education  inaugurated two school buildings at the West City Elementary School in Dumaguete City to provide additional classrooms in Negros Oriental.

Dr. Adolf Aguilar, chief of the Youth Formation Division of DepEd, said that the two buildings each had nine classrooms. These were built for P24.5 million.

“The classrooms are ready for use once face-to-face classes resume,” he said.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones virtually joined the inauguration on March 19, 2021. DepEd Undersecretary Alain Del Pascua and regional, provincial, and local agency officials also witnessed the event online.

On March 22, a DepEd team also inspected three new buildings at the Dumaguete City High School, which are 90 percent complete.

The P94-million project will add 36 classrooms. The city high school lost a 12-classroom dilapidated structure to a fire in June 2019.
